Didn't realise how big this site was, and much of it still looks to be in operation?

Thats mosltly live and missing most of the derilict part but nice views:)
 
Indeed lots of it is live, so live in fact that they are extending and building more in the near future - ( at the expense of some of the derelict bits)
 
Cheers for posting those - the derelict parts are mainly to the north side of these photos, plus the extreme southern end of the peninsula, and also on the eastern bank of the Garnock. Out of interest, did you take them from a microlight?

No, it was a Piper Cherokee.
 
The power station is not live, but the rest of the central part is. Interesting to see the things they're building to the NW of the power station...

Nice, I've had a few hours in 152's, but compared to them the Cherokee is a proper plane. :)

Reason I mentioned microlights is that we spotted quite a few from the ground at Ardeer, along with the occasional flying club single (Grob??), and a Robinson R22 buzzing about. I guess most are from Prestwick…
