Unipart Automotive - A Brief Overview

Unipart Automotive was a National car parts supplier. Formed, I believe, in 1974 as part of the British Leyland group and the Unipart Group of companies. A very high profile name in British business. At it's hieght even sponsoring an F1 team. It's dinstinctive red and blue logo, a well known and trusted brand throughout the motor industry and beyond. Unipart Automotive was sold in 2011, splitting it from the Unipart Group, to an equity company in an attempt to stem the losses being made over a number of years. In 2013 the company started making drastic cutts including trimming staff levels and closing some branches. In early 2014 the company was refinanced but, alas all was in vain as the company went into administration on July 24th with the closure of 140 of its 180 depots and head office, 1200 or so people instantly unemployed. A competitor stepped in to save 32 sites and around 300 jobs.

Thankx for looking, all.........................

Wasn't even aware they had closed, yet another British manufacturer down the pan. Sad, but great pics.

Used to work for a motor factors many years ago and Unipart were a very big player back then.

One thing strikes me about this and alot of similar posts is how much stuff gets left behind - obviously catalogues and brochures are of no particular value, but this place must have literally been emptied of stock and then closed its doors.
