Milford Mill is a cotton spinning mill which was opened by Jedediah Strutt after he bought land on the Derwent between Matlock and Derby in 1781 during the Industrial Revolution. This mill is one of a series of mills contructed on the Derwent.

With this mill, and a similar one in Belper, Strutt built long rows of worker's houses in the area. The mills are now part of Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

The current 5.5 acre site is unused and plans are in place to turn the whole area the mill sits on into 70 dwellings. Part of the mill will be refurbished for commercial accommodation.

Nice set there rubex..really enjoyed this place.you sure you got all the dryers lol

Interesting report along with the photos. But why have an emergency shower with clear windows on the outside? When the dryers were at full working order it must have been quite warm in there.

Shut it Mr Mutt! You know I get confused

Yes Hugh Jorgan,I wondered the same - why have a clear window in a shower room? I don't think I'd be up for a shower in there! You never know who might be peeping through the window

And to everybody else, thank you for the lovely comments! Much appreciated as always :)

You don't get naked in emergency showers without the help of others, they dump a LOT of water VERY quickly and if you need to use one you really don't want to be wasting time taking clothes off and potentially spreading whatever it is you want to get off you around without being under the shower first. Most emergency showers aren't enclosed by anything at all, but are generally right next to wherever it is you're handling hazardous materials. If you need to use one, body conciousness is the least of your worries.
