This is a fine old Scottish pit, that's for sure. It's one place I kind of expected to run into drug users, or at least signs of it, but alas there was nothing of the sort just a lovely deathtrap of a former power station.
It was built in 1902 and provided power for the first street lighting and tram network in Kirkcaldy, but it fell out of use way back in the 1960s and has lain empty ever since. Nice and easy to get into, a good chilled place for a wander on a weekday morning. Recent developments have seen an application for demolition of a listed building applied for, so for now it has an uncertain future.
Having been empty for so long there isn't much to see inside, however it has a cracker of a staircase at the front, and the original white glazed bricks that form the bulk of the main building are lovely.
Thanks for looking, more photos can be found here https://www.flickr.com/photos/mookie427/albums/72157662631963218
