Hi All
Never ever thought I`d get to see inside this place, after a picture was posted on Face-bog and a few fast texts to a mate in Kent I took the gamble that it was still open, finished work, jump in the car and head off on a 150 mile trip (just in case) - More text`s "It`s still open".
History:- Go have a look on Subbrit as I can`t be arsed to type all that crap out.
Pictures:-
Entrance passage way (tis a long walk)
Inside the main WW2 and then Cold war plotting room.
The old diesel engine power supply room.
Air filtration plant room.
Telephone switch room (GPO/BT DTN room)
The place is a bit on the bloody huge side, after wandering through passages and looking in to room of all sorts we found one of the old telephone switch boards, still with fragile wires attached.
The bunker did have a backup battery power supply, these are the wooden support racks for the batteries.
Set in the wall next to one of the bunkers blast doors is this Cold war era blast over pressure valve.
Right that will do, It`s hard to just choose a few pictures from a 3 1/2 explore.
You know the score by now, there are a few more pictures on my FlickR site so get your arse over to:-
