Visited this place with man gone wrong.raf coltishall was a former English fighter base during World War Two.it remained active until 2007 when it was decided that the MOD would close it as part of its defence cuts.this was the last Battle of Britain base to close,bringing an end of an era to the base.the last planes based here was the jaguar.this had served to great effect in the gulf war.then the decision was made to retire the jags.and this decision was the main reason for finally shutting the base.the area has been converted into a lot of business bits and a prison is also on part of the site.the officers mess sits on a separate bit.and is off the standard layout as other.but a bit more modernised than say ray ham.the decay is slowly setting in.but the place is in good condition.the building has now been sold so what the future holds for it now is uncertain.thanks to MD and mr bones for the tip off.
