Sometimes known locally as "The Doctor's House" this ancient property has many stories to tell but as the years pass by its state of dereliction increases.
The building, which is known as both 'Manor House' and 'Ivy Farm Manor', is believed to have belonged to a notorious psychiatrist who once discharged a patient two days before she killed an 11-year-old girl. Neil Silvester authorised the release of Carol Barratt from psychiatric care in April 1991 even though she had threatened a young girl with a knife and tried to strangle a medic.
The 24-year-old patient then randomly attacked schoolgirl Emma Brodie and stabbed her to death in a Doncaster shopping centre. An inquiry found that Dr Silvester had made 'a serious error of clinical judgement' and he seems to have moved out of his Hampole home soon afterwards, although he continued to practice at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
I called in here on the way back from another location, somewhere to stretch the legs if you like. After seeing Hughie's report i wanted to photograph the Humber Super Snipe if i was ever in the area.
