A quick visit to another anonymous Northants farm with Hound Dog last night & while its pretty bare, the exceptional evening gave me some reasonable pics even with my point & shoot!
This place for me had a bit of a "want to buy it & live in it" feel. The house is structurally quite good & left us wondering why someone hasn't (it may be owned by a local estate)
Cant find much history, but think the pics speak for themselves!

Not much inside apart from this unusual metal toilet!

What looks like another interesting victorian coach house, makes sense that it would be owned by a local estate. Thanks Glynn.

It does look like it started out as a couch house, maybe the cost of restoration is stopping any sale, Nicely Done Glynn, Thanks

The square layout is typical of a lot of farms, but is strange that the archways continue round all sides internally.
There is a dutch barn next to it still being used!

strange that the archways continue round all sides internally.

A type of construction very often used in large, brick built farm and industrial buildings of this period. The internal arches allow the rest of the wall to be substantially thinner - thus using less bricks. The 'tin' toilet is a modern form of the old earth closet, the seat and lid form a tight seal with the inner container and any smells/gases are vented up the stench pipe, fastened to the wall. Very common when there were no sewers and an internal toilet was required - I have seen these used with both chemicals or just a bucket of sand to cover the 'fresh' contents! When the inner container was full, it was emptied outside in a suitable spot.

To those of us interested in the mechanisation of farming during the very eary steam age, these buildings and others on similar estate farms, whose owners were at the forefront of this mechanical revolution, are well known. Our Victorian forebears built big and bold to advertise this 'new dawn' and their wealth!

Thanks Dirus, there was a bath there too which appeared quite modern, didn't notice if it had taps but did notice a tap in one of the "stables". There were lights & switches (not bakerlite but round white plastic) in every room & even in most the barns!

Thats crying out to be converted into a dwelling :p
The toilet looks similar to the type used in ROC posts.
Fantastic photos as always, thanks for sharing :)
