Visited with Winch It In today. First off we looked for Spigot Mortar Emplacement S0013998 but we didnt find it, we later realised we where looking in the wrong place as it appears to be in the houses Garden. Next we moved onto Type 22 S0007984 which was almost impossible to photograph:

Then onto the Fighter Pen nearby:

Next onto Pillbox S0013907 which doesnt have a type on the database, if anyone can id this it would be apreciated. I can confirm the fighter pen the other side of the woods is still there but we where unable to photograph it (Winch should be along later with more photos):

Moving up past the Picket Hamilton Fort which we where not able to find as we where planning to return to it later but where asked to leave and we had a quick look but no stopping. We come to another fighter pen type a:

Moving on we come to S00013907, listed as a type 22 but doesnt look like one, again an ID would be apreciated, it was at this point we where asked to leave. We where able to see S0013909 but unable to get ot it, this appears to be the same type as this one:

On our way out we stopped at an Pillbox with no number or type which as you can see was very complete, even has the gun mount in place:

Moving off the airfield we come to one labelled as a Varient S0006835 which definatly looks worthy of another visit when the field isnt full of crop:

We then moved on to the Pillbox just along the road on the datebasem no number no details and it has been removed.

Cheer's snap_happy for quality day out, Here are a few of my favorite pic's from the day out.

On the D.O.B. it just says PILLBOX as I would like to know what type as the entrance is through the floor, still with its trap door.

Unfortunatly the mud bank behind has completely filled this one up.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent, great Turnbull cradles and with the gun bar in situ too I'm still looking for my first one in the flesh, I'm presuming the circular clamp at the end suggests a vickers or Lewis gun

Excellent stuff lads and so many mounts still surviving, thx for a good start to the day :)

Debden is a live barracks I think ... Which would explain the lack of Chavez attention

yes part of debden is a live barracks, but most of the pillboxs etc can be accessed as they lie outside the live area, did you come across any of the inert ordanance laying around?

Basically it's ok for you to walk round with a dog but not a camera!
We didn't know at the time until it was to late, apparently they are suppose to fly red flags to say they have live ordananace practice.
We were asked to leave politely or otherwise.

Which was a real shame as id love to have got over to the Pillbox we spotted from the Runway, hey ho these things happen.

Turnbull city, most of these look like AM 22's with thickened walls, hence the deep embrasures. Looks like a fantastic day out but where should that type 28 be then?
