After considering my options for a while over where I wanted to take on first I decided to throw myself straight in at the deep end with a trip to St. Mary’s.

And this week the perfect day arrived...my girlfriend and I packed our kit and bait and got ourselves up to the hospital.

I hope you enjoy the photos. My composition was way off at times but I totally lost my head in that place, it really is amazing!

Carpets give the nurses block a real cosy feel!

Was so happy to find this.

After getting inside the majority of the outbuildings we decided to tackle the main event. Now the main building looks big, but once you’re in the labyrinth of corridors you start to appreciate the scale of this place. There is so much to see here, and its been covered dozens of times before. Here are some of my highlights...

Down by 'snips' things are really falling apart

The laundry area is fascinating, if only it hadn’t have been stripped out, but I guess when it is bare like this you appreciate the structure of this building a hell of a lot more. I found a part of an old school **** mag in there!

Could spend days exploring the sprawling corridors of the main building but after checking out the isolation cells, time was ticking away and we had to get to the mortuary. I had a fairly good idea where it would be and turned out to be spot on.

Lying back on the cold ceramic slab with your eyes closed in silence for 1 minute is highly recommended to anyone who is privileged enough to spend time in this room alone.

There was one final surprise in what had been a mind blowing day. St. Mary’s Hospital Social Club. This place is wicked and full of surprises. It's just a shame about the collapsed roof.

Sat in The Ridley Arms contemplating the day’s events, I struggled to take in all that I had seen. Hidden away behind all those trees is something so immense and it is clearly slipping past the point of no return.

I can’t wait to go back.

cheers guys, first attempt at photographing this sort of thing, so the feedback is appreciated :)

nice photos, great to see that the toilets with the seats intact for a change

no organ this time, had to make a decision between the mortuary or the chapel as time was running out! Managed to get round pretty much every building bar the chapel so that's on the list for next time.

yeah the mortury table creeps me out and i dont think i could go in there *shudders* is this place in newcastle?

Its not far from Newcastle, near a village called Stannington, check it out on google maps.

The morgue is awesome. Best part of the whole day.
