Another recent ;) trip with Neosea, saw us visiting St Johns Asylum Lincs, lots of corridors and doors, seemed to be very 'tidy' with obvious evidence of building work. Thanks for the info Glodie87 ;)

Heres a bit of history:

The Asylum was built in 1852 as "Lindsey and Holland Counties and Lincoln and District Lunatic Asylum" on a slight rise in Bracebridge parish, on the high road to Sleaford. Originally built to house 250 inmates, it was enlarged in 1859, 1866, 1881 and 1902. The asylum grounds covered 120 acres. Through its history the Asylum was known under many different names including "Bracebridge Heath Asylum" and "Lincolnshire County Pauper Lunatic Asylum." it finally closed its doors in 1990.

Plenty more on the website :)

Any idea what is planned for the place? the roof looks to have been replaced, unless it's just still in very good condition, and hasn't suffered the usual attention from the lead collectors!

It should all be undergoing renovation into flats houses even a shopping area or so i read somewhere, not sure about the roof being new, but the whole place looks very tidy and relatively clean, the stonework itself looked like it has undergone cleaning but dont know if it has, naybe someone else on here knows more.

Nice one mate glad you got it done. And yes, I think some of the roofs were having work done on them last year when I went

Not a fan of hospitals...you probably guessed! ;) But, I've always liked St Johns with it's fabulous staircase and other lovely details.
Excellent photos, guys. :)
