though im sure loads of you know the history anyway.

took a wander there with the kids as the place closed down last friday. there was some life in a few of the buildings but i never once was asked who i was and what was i up to. the life was near the front in the admin block though the mobility centre seems to still be in use as is a daycare place at the back of the site.

external shots only as had the kids with me. got a couple of internals through windos as you can tell by reflections!! sadly it seems the main hospital building has already gone according to a workman i was talking to when i wandered on site by mistake through the gates they left open.

theyre going to build a super dooper stanley park high school on the site.

the pics aint in any particular order as photobuckets messed them all up...

Thats a massive place mate, good pics too !
Good on you for involving the kids as well, my mum used to take me to dig in old victorian bottle pits in sheffield when i was a wee lass, i really loved it and i think thats why i like what i like today !

cheers.

i like to get them out andf the eldest gets the walking exercise and they both get fresh air. beats sitting infront of the tv all day watching cbeebies. 'chops' [my daughter] likes looking for treasure, today we came home with a key [for what i dont know], an internal mail envelope and a pine cone.

her fave was the pine cone. im intrigued what the key is for, its on one of them plastic fobs and resembles a door key but what door? what was written on it has faded.

Hmmm - i wondered what was going on up there since it closed down. Those last few are of the old nursery, where my eldest went until it was shut down about this time last year. Of course the thing to remember is that it wont be the new super dooper Stanley Park School if they can't get the Pymouth Bretheren ("Remember everyone, you're going to hell and we're not!") to sell that bit of land where the old stables are. Very interesting anyway, and people might also be interested to know that this site is right next to the old animal testing labs which are now also disused. But thats a different story....
Top pics though anthill...

oooh where are these labs? i didnt know anything about them. we walked the perimeter of the site, did encroach on what was mor hospital land but is now an open wilderness backing onto the houses that were built there.

pm will do if you dont wanna share out in the open so to speak.
