Hams Hall was the location of three power stations, the last of which closed in the early 1990's. All of them have now long gone, replaced by ugly industrial units and bleak expanses of wasteground. However a small substation is the sole survivor of this massive complex. It looks very plain on the outside, but the inside has some surprises. Although it has been badly vandalized, you can still imagine how great its art deco control room would have been with its backlit glass ceiling.
