copied and pasted from North East Urbex.....

Been wanting to visit this site for quite a while, so after a bit of asking about from the locals we got the name and number of the guy who owned it.

Phoned him up and he agreed to give us free run on the place for a few hours on the 30th.

We met him (well I did - Goan was well late getting there) and he let us in. I had a cracking time on my own but was mindful that he was coming back to turf us out and lock the doors at 12 and there was still no sign of Goan.

Goan arrived at 11:30 or something around that, so he had very little time in the place, which was a shame.

Once the owner came back and locked the place up we had a chat with him, I asked him for the history and he said 'History? The history is I'm sick of the fuckin sight of the place' lol.

He said that basically he bought it to do up into a pub with a function room, but the pub game went tits up and there was no money in it. He said that if he had his way he'd just demo it and build some apartments on the site, but because its a listed building you can't.

He also said he'd had a few people visit without permission but that he didn't really mind. He said 'Yeah alot of people come in, if you type dalton pumping station into google you'll see how people have been here. They've got some cracking photos of the place mind. Theres a whole group of people called 28dl or something like that that go around old buildings and take photos, some good photos like'

We made out like we'd heard nothing of the sort etc as you would.

Anyway, we left and he locked up, but on the main road outside I wanted to get 1 external shot before we left. No sooner had a I taken the photo than a police van drove past, promptly turned round and came for a chat with us.

The copper said cause of the terrorism they've gotta stop and talk to people who are photographing old buildings and such. Didn't mind as they were cool enough, just did some name checks and whatnot, they did however say they'd have to arrest goan for being a smoggy lol.

Anyway, thats about it, heres the photos.

Rest are here

I just love these Victorian temples to engineering, times when civic pride was uppermost and embellishment of functional buildings was the norm. Its a shame that places like this can be left unloved by most although this one at least seems secure and unchaved.Great photos thanks for sharing

Never even knew this existed. Wonderful designs. They just don't make them like they used to

Wow I had no idea anything like this was in the North East. Its unreal. Quite amazed its all still intact really. Class work matey.

What an absolutely beautiful place! Amazing pics. Thanks for sharing. There's no way that the guy should be allowed to demo' it! If I had the cash I'd buy it myself! I'm drooling...

Awesome photo's.

I had a wander round the grounds of a very similar building up towards Hexham mucho months ago, unfortunatley never got to see inside. There were some interesting derelict sheds next to it...not much of a consolation though!
