Don't really know anything about this place, but its been on the list for a while now and it just so happened we were passing it on the way back from St. Marys so we decided to stop in.

The only thing worth noting was the amount of pigeon shit on the stairs, it was a joke! Once we climbed that shit (literally), we got to a door which had been bent with just enough space to squeeze through.

Only spent about 15-20 minutes here, was really just a flying visit and theres not alot to see.

Anyways, heres the photos

Great pics. I bet those control panels were awseome in their time, replaced nowadays by a boring 17" monitor  Btw do you know when that control centre was built / closed?

The box was opened on the 21st of April 1963 and closed 9th of May 1991. Only bit of info i could find about it. So it's been closed nearly 20 years.

Only one way down....

Been yonks since I was there and entrance was more than a little tricky.

Did you find the room full of CRT monitor 'spares' ?

And yes, that bent door is a challenge even for the nimble

We only looked up on the top floor, we didn't have any torches to look at the rooms below, and the amount of pigeon shit put us off.

agree, although the proper original stuff was/is the best!!! A proper lever frame......wow!!! I remember hearing/seeing a 50 lever frame, geesh that was big, much better than those boring boards!!! fascinating all the same though!!
