This disused firing range is sat in a sheltered valley to the west of Wolstonbury Hill, about 5 miles north of Brighton. I first visited here 2 years ago and my photos werent great (the sun went behind the hill and it was like turning a light off!)
I dont know the history of it but I have read unconfirmed reports of it being used by the Home guard in ww2.
Sunken target area
Target lifting gear
Semi buried shelter
crater caused by the hill being the backstop
some used bullets I found in the loose chalk
and in 2008
old sign with many holes in it
Foundations of structure at the firing point
the range from the firing point, the target area is just under the bushes to the right, a second shorter target area is on the left but its only visible by a bank
