Evenin' all !!! Had a quick dash around 12 Midlands airfields t'other day with Newage.Whilst he was off doing some research for his (Top Secret) forth coming web site, i was soaking up some of the WWII atmosphere !! See what ya think !!
First up is Condover, this still boasts a control tower and a couple of misc buildings although apparantly the tower has been bought for a residential conversion .!!
This is the control tower complete with rather menacing guard sheep !!!

Next to the control tower are what i believe to be the Fire tender shed and the original watch office.

Next up is a rather overgrown shelter for the aircrew at a dispersal pen.

.......and finally an old original BR container from the late 1950's now in use as a store !!!!

Off now to Tilstock and the ' Operations Block ' I have not seen many of these and this was quite a treat as with no windows and plenty of rooms it felt like being underground (my favourite place to be !!) and was absolutely pitch black !!!

This room contains the original MDF for the airfield telephone system.

Here is possibly a ladies loo !

Lastly a quick (and subtle !! ) dabble with HDR !

There are still many buildings standing on a former disrersed site in woodland but as the weather wasn't that bright these are just some random internals.

Off to Atcham now and it's time to play spot the Battle HQ after the miserable git of a farmer refused us entry for a couple of close ups !!!
IMG_9141copy.jpg

High Ercall now and an excuse for some pukka pillbox porn !! Johnny get your wet suit on !! This is one of five or six boxes built to the same style to defend the perimeter of the former airfield-i think only two still stand !!!
IMG_9135copy.jpg

......and just incase Jerry did happen to slip in via the back roads (STOPPIT !!) Dads army was waiting.....
IMG_9139copy.jpg

Lastly -for this set-its off to Montford Bdg and a top quality farming family who gave us an 'access all areas pass' and were more than happy for us to persue our hobby !! THANKS if youre reading this !!
This beauty is an extended watch office / control tower and (i think ) is a bit of a rare survivor !!

......and lastly, how many lucky sodz have got one of these in their garden ?????

Thanx for your time !!!!!

I joined our intrepid explorers for part of their trip......

Newage (with Montford Bridge watch office to give an idea of his scale)

What looks like a pyro cupboard...though it had an external window

Would have been rude not to try the steps to the roof

I like that shot of the seagull trench at Rednal. Looks like you had a great day. Thanks for sharing - I am well jealous!

fluffy your pics have come out really well fella, great lighting inside ............ nice one chaps

Just like to say thanx for all your comments (most appreciated) It really is amazing what you can still discover at some of these old airfields, bearing in mind that most closed immediately after WWII finished !! Was also a pleasure to meet Tigger2 too !!!:)

Never realised there was more to come. Great photo's Tigger2 the two of the seagull trench and BHQ were quite stunning. Any reason the Farmer gave for not letting you visit ? Only one I have asked did say yes though he was miffed people went traming around his land with out asking. :)

There are a few more of my photos in photobucket sets (user 'trunktemp'). I'm sure Fluffy can be convinced to post some more of his!

I don't think the forum is the best place to discuss the particular landowner. All the others we spoke to were very helpful.
