This visit was a permission job as I know the owner, and a friend of mine rents out a small part of the complex for his business. So for these reasons, I have no choice but to keep the location under wraps. If this goes against forum rules then please feel free to remove the post.
They were commission dyers to a host of Textile companies throughout Yorkshire! But due to the severe decline within the industry, and closure after closure, the dye house finally gave up the ghost.
It's a a sad affair when a local community loses an employer and plunders a lot of people out of work! And in turn puts stress on the families concerned.
Some folk might even go as far as to say that we as Urban Explorers thrive on the downfall of the unfortunate. We know that's not true. We document derelict places for posterity and historical/heritage reasons.
It's close to my heart as I am part of the local community
Lets have a butchers then.
Some exterior shots within the complex.
Huge pipes from the boiler house.
The boiler.
Out into the filtration plant.
Mesh walkways and cool steel.
The dye plant itself.
File under rust.
A rather nice intersection between sheds.
And a door to a dark place.
A multitude of lovely wooden stairs in here too.
The sample lab
Adjacent to the dye house lies a former flour mill. Stripped out but still beautiful to see.
Up in the roof void.
And a couple of self jobbies.
Cheers.
