Regional Civil Engineers Welding School
Visited in the good company of A Little Feisty, Ladyhales, Marcus and Mr Feisty. A cold start to the day and with St Edmunds Hospital and L&H Polymers already crossed off and visited this little gem is hidden away from all but the most keen of Urbex eyes, and credit to A Little Feisty and Ladyhales on spotting this one.
I had been warned that history on this site was tough to find and this has proved to be the case all there appears to be
This former Midland Railway Locomotive Shed was Grade II listed in 1995. Originally built in 1873 as a Railway locomotive shed it has long since been forgotten.Construsted from Polychrome brick with a corrugated sheet roof. Its final use would appear to have been as a CIvil Engineering Welding School however the building itself has remained largely unaltered. Despite having a large portion of the roof missing, the original wooden principles, collars and purlin, along with the bracing and tie rods have withstood both the test of time and the elements and a fire in 2000.
