Nice post ....very dry AND fantastic views over the old airfield at Llanbedr ...nice to see plenty of obligatory stuff in there too like the 'Glitto' Jerry can tipper was a nice spot too

Looks good would like to see the old air field a well nice work thanks

On it's way to being a small industrial estate as far as i know mate ....
Plenty of memories from there as a kid ...jindiviks/de havilland vampires/canberras all sorts of vintage stuff there was even a DC3 Dakota outside the air training corps for a while (think one of the engines is still kicking around there somewhere )

Mind they have been flying pilotless drones there since the days of Fairey fire fly's

with mixed results

Its a shame all old airfields end up as industal units

I did hear a rumour that Llanbedr 'Might' re-open at some stage ... Apparently there are still permissions in place to allow this to happen ???

Handier for flying the "mach loop/cad west" up the road than Valley .....though some of the bigger stuff might struggle with the length of runway

Creeping away fro the ROC post but this from the local rag recently:

15 December 2011
The director of an aviation company which this week finally secured a lease for Llanbedr Airfield said the future looked bright and new jobs were on the way to the area. Llanbedr Airfield Estates LLP received confirmation of their 125-year lease of Llanbedr airfield this week and say they hope to develop the site as an ‘unmanned aerial vehicle’ site, which they say will boost the local economy.

David Young, director of the company, said: “The most important points at this stage are that we remain enthusiastic and committed to this project. “The overriding principle in relation to the project must be economic regeneration and jobs.” Mr Young added that their main focus would be to develop the site as an “un-manned aerial vehicle site (UAV)”.

He added: “The Lawful Use Certificate means of course that we are focusing on UAV operations and again that fits with the Welsh Government’s aspirations for aerospace in Wales.

“Of course Llanbedr is an aerodrome – that’s what is needed for the UAVs - and of course other aircraft will continue to fly in and out as they have done all the time the aerodrome has been in the Welsh Government’s ownership"

Good spot Tigger ....Sounds very much along the lines as i was told (by a man in a pub,who knew a man that had once worked with the uncle of a woman that .......)

Almost explains why so much of the infrastructure was left in place when the RAF left
