A very long over due first report! Please bear with me on the photo's, this is the second time I've used my D80 and I have just about learnt how to put the battery in and where the shutter release is.

I've seen a few other reports with a bit of history on Transco so I won't bore you with that again and it doesn't seem relevant to this site anyway. I haven't been able to find any real info on this site.

Before I start with the pictures and in the light of a recent thread I would like to warn others of an asbestos risk in one of the buildings.

I visted this place with omj624p, I didn't think it was going to be that interesting, but I have come away with more questions than answers!

Two of the three buildings on the site are prefab type units that are pretty much trashed inside, clearly the local kids have been in them. To be honest there isn't much of interest in them.

The third brick building is where things started to get a lot better.

I've seen the lab glass in other reports, it was nice to see it was still there and not been broken

The fume cabinets and extractor are still intact

I wonder what used to live behind this door?

And that concludes my visit to the site. Thanks for looking! :)

Hmmm, vaaaiiry interesting. I assume this was scientific support for the gas supply people. They probably would have used a few radioactive isotopes for test purposes (most labs do) hence the radioactive sign on the door. Just a guess mind.... Thanks for sharing!

...and I didnt even know it was there until you mentioned it. Cheers for the invite.

And a few of my favourite pics from the day (I've been invited to add some, I'm not thread hijacking :) )

Since I'm into IT, the techy remains are always interesting to me... the comms cabinet...

Spoons from the kitchin area...

Lots of intact glassware...

Two safes, one hidden in the floor! I'd love to know what is inside, but strangely I didnt even try the door on the main safe (probably because I didnt want the disappointment of it being empty)...

This floor safe is rusty and hasnt been opened yet. Hmmm, there's got to be something decent waiting inside, and despite the place being littered with random keys the chances of finding the right one are slim, and even then the lock looks to be too rusty to turn :(

Nice find, right on my doorstep and I didn't know it was there!
edit:- Was aware though that the very large car panel repair workshop, just over the road from this site, has been empty for quite a while now.;)
