Flava did a good post on Hantegantick Quarry in January last year. I was in the area and couldn't resist a nose 'round. It hasn't changed much.

This is a rotating table used to mount the stone on whilst being cut on the saws, the motor you can see on the right of it was used to turn the table top through 90 degrees. It was run on tracks into and out of the saw for loading and unloading and to be honest hasn't been used that much. When you are cutting stone you use a huge amount of water and these motors didn't last long and the steel table tops soon rusted through and were usually replaced with concrete tops and the motors done away with

Thanks for the info jonney, makes these trips around random factories somewhat more interesting if you know what the gubbins does!

your right there mate and another useless bit of info, judging by the size of the guard I'd say the circular saw blade for that saw would be either 1.6m or 2m in diameter. They go as big as 3m but mine was only a 1.6m. The saw was made by a company from Manchester called Diavro
