Okay guys, me and a mate stumbled on this building, its near Chesterfield and i honestly have no idea what it was used for. Around 25 Meters down a bank from the trainline. Anyway, if anybody has ideas, feel free to post.

The bridge over the large hole was rotting so i didn't fancy walking over it

Any ideas of what this building was for, please post.

hmmm...weird little place...something to do with water maybe? or is that a typical becci thick moment...

My guess..and I know nothing about this stuff..would be that it was/is some kind of thing that controls water flow into a drain, and maybe catches rubbish/debris (the equipment in the 4th picture looks like some sort of think that might scoop out debris that was caught in grille??)

Thanks for sharing anyways :)

Perhaps flood relief, if it has a train line below plugged into the side drain next to the line. I the line was Known to flood in the past this would pump the water away to a river culvert or sewer system ?

It look's like a pump house for the railway, have two just down the road from me.
That black hole is like a sump for the water to collect in and then pumped out. The two by me go down about 30 metre's or so,about 100ft in old money, very deep to deep for me.
