Was out walking with my daughter today when in the distance I spotted this:
Being nosy and not seeing anyone about we headed off in the direction of the buildings and entered some small woods where we discovered these:
as we followed them we could see through the trees some cool looking buildings:
but this put us off !
The place looks huge and complete:
We walked back to the car and drove round in the direction of where we thought it was and discovered its entrance. It is closed down and is guarded. The security guard came out when i pulled up and had a chat. There are several rumors that it is either going to be knocked down or some of it will be removed and then left as is, who knows ! The company that owned (Rugby Cement) were trying to win a contract to take spoil being dug out inLlondon and transported to here to fill in the original gravel pit at the rear but they have not won the contract (there is still a railway spur that works leading of the mainline at Foxton and into the works. An order was put in to Cambridge Council for demolition and was due to start in April but has now been put on hold.
I think it will make a cracking explore as it is huge and complete, will just depend on how brave you are as there were guard dogs on site
I got these last pics from outside the main gate where the security Guard is
Cheers for looking Steve
