Met up today with 'Marmaduke' and decided to have a good look around Fullers Earthworks. We started with some of the oldest, single storey buildings which lack much in the way of roofing so are a bit wrecked inside but full of interesting artifacts.

We proceeded to the main building just in time to get soaked by the sudden downpour! The central control room had been smashed to pieces! We headed upwards and evetually outwards and looked over some of the rooftops, then proceeded back down and across the conveyor towards some of the more exposed platforms and upwards to the highest outside point.

Some of the grids were rusted at both sides so we didnt hang around when crossing them ;)

After eventually making our way out of the main building we had a quick nosey at stores before proceeding to the heavily damaged sports and social club, which looked more interesting than it probably would have originally!

Nice to see some more pics of this place, Mr B.
Like the views of the staircase and walkways. That thing covered in...is it scale or a fungus, maybe?...is amazing. It looks as if it's become a life-form in it's own right!

Cheers
Foxy :)

Is Fullers Earth another name for CAT LITTER, i think its also used to filter the red dye out of Farm Diesel.

cheers Mr Bones for showing me around! really enjoyed it, and have to agree that I found the labs actually the most interesting part of the place, perhaps that had something to do with the dye extraction? there doesn't seem to be much info around about this place, does anyone know anything more? I was intrigued by all the sample jars with the 'Thailand' and 'Malyasia' labels.... fantastic pics by the way, it was definately worth a run over the rickety rusty bridge!

Really nice pics there, Md. Love that one of the broken window.
The third one looks as if that could be the 'Alien' curled up amongst the pipes. :D

Cheers

Cheers Foxy;) Aliens is what I kept thinking about as I wandered round the place as well, it reminded me of the work of HR Giger the artist who did all the designes for Aliens, especially up in the roof where all sort of pipes come out and loopback in, it made it seem like the building was some kind of living organism....

Absolutely superb lot of snaps here Mr B & Marmaduke :)

Amazing pics of that pipe type thing -looks like it could do with a few Calgon tablets!
Marmaduke -loving your pics with all those containers. Tip top pics all round me thinks! :) Glad that you had a good explore there.

Lb:cool:

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments.

No Problems :), It's a shame the roofs are so wrecked on the single storey buildings, they would have been a lot better before the water got in!

Yep, first time over the 'rusty rickety bridge' and well worth the view

Nice set of pictures you've put up

Yes, that's just what I was thinking with some of those pipes. Brilliant artist but scary too. I had a book about him that I had to keep locked away just in case my son got hold of it. The stuff that nightmares are made of, in some of his work methinks!

Cheers

Good stuff, Dosnt look like its changed much since I had a poke around 2 years ago which is good.

It looks like you had a good trip! :)

Hasn't this now been changed to a yellow dye, which is much harder to get out?

I remember there was a scare over laundered diesel which was damaging engines because it was being mixed with bleach to remove the dye. There was also the problem of left over bleach & dye being dumped.

In WW2 petrol was also sold tax free to farmers with red dye. Some spivs would try to remove this by desolving asprins in it, & then filtering the dye out through a gas mask.

Other tricks included mixing parafin, & avgas (dyed green) from force landed planes, which used neat in a car engine would burn the valves out.
