right well today i went down to reighton sands beach. back in the war there used to be a weighbridge down there with a few pillboxes lining the clifftop and machine gun points as its a good place for a lookout over the north sea for any invaders.
i couldnt get many pics or have a good explore as my dog was itching to jump in the sea and have a paddle.
first up is the road down to the weighbridge. this is also the only way down the beach and its very steep. you wouldnt get a lorry down there now!
the old hut at the bottom. (now used for getting pissed, taking a piss and burning things in)
looking up at the road to the clifftop:
something i dont know:
the big flat area where the weighbridge was:
the beach with a load of the rubble and stones now on the sand. also a big pole for something else and the old little hut which would of had a machine gun mounted is now 1/2 way down the cliff:
more rubble:
the train tracks which also ran along the cliffside are now on the beach itself:
imagine looking out in 1940 and seeing that view:
sadly it was very windy and i couldnt be bothered walking 2 miles down the beach to the pillboxes sat on the beach itself. one is on it side and full of rocks. the other it right way up and full of sand but people go in there to piss and it stinks!
