Last night (in the early hours) I was talking to Foxylady, and after discussing recent and future explores, she asked me whether i had always been interested in abandoned buildings and what sort of places i visited before the days of Cane Hill and anything on such a grand scale.

In the early days, myself and a group of friends used to cycle down country lanes and investigate all the dilapidated buildings and discarded machinery along the way. Deciding it might be a nice idea to re-visit some of these sites, i set off today in the afternoon sun to see what state they were in.

We all started somewhere and about 10 years ago, these were a couple of the sites that first interested me. I asked the same question back and it seems Foxylady had some similar experiences :)

Having known that the old gymansium (originally for a secure unit that was demolished in the 1990s) had been flattened in 2001 i set off for what we dubbed 'The old Cafe'

The main building (a dilapidated prefab) had gone. The adjoining wooden building and garden shed sat waiting for gravity to finish it off.

On the way to the next location, i spotted this Pillbox

Next location, Some sort of farm building? Surprisingly MORE in tact than when we last saw it. Someone had made a vain attempt to fix the roof.

Same entry point as 10 years ago!

The long abandoned van was even more overgrown than ever before!!!

When we first went to this location it was full of workshop equipment and old junk including an ancient TV with a smashed screen and back then my friend ventured into the loft and found an empty WW2 shell case, that's also gone but oddly enough not much else had changed.

To round the day off (and as i was due to be in the area) I went to the old site of Beedingwood again and stood on the pile of rubble

Nowadays, things are very different and if i saw sites like this (excluding Beedingwood) I probably wouldn't pay them much attention but it was still good to go back, and see how things had changed.

Brilliant idea for an explore and report, Mr B. :)
Great farm building...it's got lots of character. Especially like the pic of the van amongst the undergrowth...looks well camouflaged!
Superb ue start I'd say!
Thanks very much for sharing that. :)

Quite literally a Country Pile . . .

Sorry I missed your call Sunday, I was outside doing stuff and left my phone indoors, I guess you called while you were at Beedingwood? I could have swung by and said hey :( Should remember to utilise my mobile phone for it's designated purpose!

Thankyou all for your replies,

Foxylady - glad you enjoyed it, it was a good afternoon for a country drive and not a bad idea to come up with at 4am!

Carlito, much appreciated - although i would say there are loads of members on this forum who contribute equal and better writeups!

KA - shame about that, often the case though.

JD - yeah i did ring when i was at Beedingwood, photo of me was taken by a friend :)
