Visited this with a none member,me and a few friends failed last year so it was time to try again and we made a early start in the darkness as flats sit behind the building.after getting in we had a nosey around whilst waiting for the sun to rise.the building has had it s heart stripped out by vandals and thieves.but quite a few nice features still exist.and the vandals have not been in lately due to a better securing of the building.the civic building was built pre Victorian times in 1836 it was originally used as a court house and jail.but the building was still used as a jail till 1930 and the courts continued use till closure.in 1906 the local council decided to take over the building,a new extension as built on the side.the council operated until 2004 when they decided to move to a newer plusher property, the building was sold to a private developer who was going to turn it into flats but never did,and the building has just laid empty since.the building is one of the highest at rsk in the country
