Visited this with a none member,me and a few friends failed last year so it was time to try again and we made a early start in the darkness as flats sit behind the building.after getting in we had a nosey around whilst waiting for the sun to rise.the building has had it s heart stripped out by vandals and thieves.but quite a few nice features still exist.and the vandals have not been in lately due to a better securing of the building.the civic building was built pre Victorian times in 1836 it was originally used as a court house and jail.but the building was still used as a jail till 1930 and the courts continued use till closure.in 1906 the local council decided to take over the building,a new extension as built on the side.the council operated until 2004 when they decided to move to a newer plusher property,the building was sold to a private developer who was going to turn it into flats but never did,and the building has just laid empty since.the building is one of the highest at rsk in the country

Picture 31 is very interesting.. There appears to be some ghosting. Maybe it's an apparition of some kind?

Please keep the supernatural talk off this forum. There are lots of others you can discuss that sort of thing on.

It's clearly a processing issue, you can see the "ghosting" is actually a layer from the image below. No apparition, just plain old very alive human error.

However it's another lovely set of shots Mikey, thank you.

Thank you..yip it was just a very dark room with a lot of sun coming in a small gap which caused problems with the window ha ha

That spiral staircase is awesome, and the wooden roof beams look stunning, and surprisingly not rotten! Good snaps!

Hi, I attended the quarter sessions there in the late 50s while in the holding cell beneath the court the prisoner was called and he passed his cigs and tobacco back I was chuffed I was the last one to be called and the warden told me to empty my pockets as I was going down as well
The twin towers at the front was where they had public hanings

There's a lot of nice parts in this building such as the staircase and the wooden beams. I hope it saved and put to some good use. Nice pictures as per your usual.
