Since the army vacated in the 1950s, the council proposed filling the ditches with household waste...luckily, this was prevented on the basis the site is of historical importance.
I'll begin with our 2015 explore: an early morning scramble into the ditches, it was evident that a battle against nature had commenced very recently. We had a brief wander and as we were heading to the car we passed volunteers ready to continue their clearance.
I was super excited to be re-visiting in 2017 with Rubex, jsp and the fella, this time going inside. I guess the volunteers gave up keeping on to of it as it was overgrown again. Anyhow....a selection from both explores.

Not far from the above was another entrance I'd noticed during our 2015 mooch (I was too chicken back then to go inside) so we had a look there too.....
SPIDERS! EVERYWHERE!
