Cowbridge Grammar School

This was the other place I sneaked a quick look at while on a recent holiday with the girlfriend, would of been rude not to as we were staying a few miles away.

This school was founded in the 17th century with this main building being built in 1852
It has a long list of "notable former students" which with the exception of Anthony Hopkins I have hardly heard of any lol.
The school was owned & closely linked to Jesus Collage in Oxford so the list of achievers is not surprising.
The school closed in 1974, Im not sure when this actual building fell into disrepair, but its pretty well trashed with just a few nice features remaining.

the explore was a simple midday affair, but was lucky I got out when I did as 5 min later a "vacent property security" van turned up & a guy started photographing open fences etc.

Not great pics here Im afraid i was all explored out at this point after doing Cmy coke in the morning.

Was interested to see this interior since I saw a news report on it. A lot better than I thought with some nice details especially seen as they said there is fire damage.

Just looked at a report from late last year & it has deteriorated pretty bad since then!

Thanks, I was pushing the boundaries of time on my own on a romantic week away by this point so was a bit rushed lol

This is not Cowbridge Grammar School!

Cowbridge Grammar School was successfully renovated into apartments (near the church) some years ago ..... after the new Comprehensive school was built. Cowbridge Grammar School was an all male (part boarding) school.

What you show here is the Girls High School. About 1/2 mile apart and a much newer institution on the other side of Cowbridge. It was even used as part of the Comprehensive until fairly recently and has been on the market .... maybe as it is not in the town centre location that the Grammar School is ... and as the first picture shows on the top right hand corner, just under the relatively new Cowbridge By=Pass.

I do apologise, you are correct about the location!
This has been incorrectly reported before also then!

Hopefully these buildings do actually get a redev as the grey stone and slate come alive in the sun from your first pic BG
