I stumbled across this place by accident and was amazed to find such a large site so close to where I live. This is my first report on this forum so I hope it's up to scratch!
History
Most of the information I could find about this site is things that have happened since it was abandoned. I learnt this massive building was once a clubhouse with a bar, several reception rooms and hotel rooms.
In 2013 developers starting harassing the owners while the venue was still in use. This apparently started a rumour that the venue was closing which in turn drove away customers eventually forcing it to close the summer of 2013. At the time the plan was to turn it into a care home but these plans never came to fruition.
The site made headlines again in 2014 when police raided the building and seized hundreds of cannabis plants. It was then boarded up and has slowly deteriorated over the next few years. I've heard that the building is now scheduled to be demolished.
Report
I'm a sucker for plants and trees reclaiming buildings and when I first approached the site I was only expecting to get some exterior photos. To my surprise, I was able to explore inside as well. It was a very enjoyable explore with lots of interesting rooms and items. My favourite part of this building is the huge sky light which provided us with plenty of light in the venue's lobby and bar.
Thanks for taking a look!
