In 1909 Five Brothers started a business drop forging tools for the still thriving cotton industry in Manchester!
They flourished and by 1953 were the worlds largest Edge Tool makers, they exported to Birmingham - which was also a major power house of heavy engineering.
In 1958 they acquired T. Williams Drop forging and a few others and became Eva Industries as the Holding company in 1960.
The site was called Crabtree forge - after the road it resided on in East Manchester.
Allegedly - They supplied parts to RMS Titanic!
With the decline of the Steam Loco their work changed to car parts like Radiators but it finally closed in 2005!
Today there are still signs of that era; I first went here in 2013 but failed to access any of the buildings, they were still trading! Finally getting into the main buildings was a great feeling after an 8 year wait and it didn't disappoint!
