Hotel near Algarve, Portugal

This is my first post so if I've missed information or the style is wrong, please let me know.

Despite being closed for ten years, this place is in tip top condition with no graffiti, and just one broken window.

I spotted this while taking in the view from a castle, and figured something was "off" about this building. On driving over, it was definitely abandoned.



I wish I could give a location, but it's in such condition I'd hate for it to be gooned. Regular posters who happen to be holidaying in south west of Portugal are welcome to message for location.

My drone spotted am empty pool and fallen TV antenna.



Amazingly it looks like only two air conditioning units, out of 30, have been removed.



The views are stunning - across the valley to a beautiful castle.



The road to this is just a dirt track. The drive from the track to the hotel is paved. Because of this, I assumed the hotel was never finisged. This is incorrect - it was just a really crap hotel.



The hotel opened in the 90s as a self-declared 4 star. Reviews are shocking, and it appears to have only ever appealed to Portuguese guests. It's a significant haul to the Algarve beaches, where the is already a glut of accommodation for all budgets.

It was family owned. Reviews claim the lifts never worked, breakfast was crap, and the staff were awful. So quite a lot of negative points for a hotel in the back and beyond, up a dirt track.

Sorry I don't know any more about it, but that's all I could find.

Security isn't on site, and after I was done I parked on the adjacent street for a

bit and nobody turned up. Here are some more pics...

There's access if you're brave - I had a flight to catch so decided not to factor in A&E time.

One of the balcony windows is smashed and there's access that way. To get to that balcony, you'll need to be a floor up, hang off the side of the building, and side step across a pillar to the next balcony, then step over.

It doesn't look too difficult tbh, but my partner objected to standing below just in case I fell

Looking inside from drone, it looks mostly fine. There's no sign of graffiti. Ceiling on top floor has minor leaks which have dried out now, but been sufficient to discolour plaster and bring a small amount down.

Re use as a hotel - I'm amazed it was ever built. There's no way they had even 50% occupancy because the nearby town doesn't even have anywhere I could buy a coffee on a Sunday. There's no reason anyone would holiday in the area (too far from Algarve beaches and towns).

It would, however, make a fantastic apartment block and I'm surprised it hasn't been converted!
