The Lodge , March 24

Some of you may recognise this lodge from my - what's beyond those gates thread.
At the time this beautiful lodge didn't have any access. Unfortunately with access comes the damage, graffiti, and disrespect . Seems the local kids have been making the most of it.
I really hope work will start soon to turn the lodge into apartments like planning have approved. Some outer buildings have already suffered fire damage, and I would hate to see this place go the same way.
I really struggle when I see beautiful old photographs of family members, especially children just left to be destroyed. Why? I guess we all ask the same question. Seems a family had lived here and had a engineering buisness, lthere are lots of abandoned buildings used for work purposes, still full of tools and machinery., with planning permission for demolition and hundreds of new houses to built.

Some history, couldn't find much ...
The lodge was built in the Georgian period, with evidence suggesting it was a farmstead between 1793 and 1855, the farm buildings being built in a group in 18.55.
A beautiful peacock greeted me on the way out, no idea where he had come from, but fiinished off a enjoyable afternoon exploring.

I'm hoping access is rumbled, and boarded up soon.
I would hate to see it suffer anymore damage. What is it with kids and drawing big penises!

As I've said before, a lot of it has to do with jealousy from the inability to produce anything as good, so they destroy or deface it.

Nice. What a beautiful house, including some nice stained glass and fireplace tiles. How sad, it looks as though someone just stepped out (especially the kitchen). I should think the graffiti was male kids.

Wow, what a beautiful house! Love the fireplace and stained glass. Feel like the place has a lot of history in it. Shame some idiots have defaced the place, hope it doesn't get any worse.

And that mould! Whoever does end up having the place done up will have a job on with that. I hope it does get someone buying it and repairing the place up.

Unfortunately, and so bloody obvious this would be the outcome! This beautiful lodge was set alight Sunday evening, and by the time fire-fighters could get to it, it was already up in flames.

Was only a matter of time!
So sad. I was hoping after the outbuilding fire they would ramp up security, board up windows, something! Access for the fire crew would have been a nightmare, security fencing, locked gates and skip infront of them. No wonder it was well alight

They obviously weren't bothered about protecting it!
Bloor homes own it all now for redevelopment. I think it would have survived if it wasn't next to a school and so well known with the local kids.

But saying that that bugtopia is getting smashed to bits now. There's no way there except to drive. Not walking distance for kids from any local villages. So these people ate driving there and trashing it. So can't blame kids all the time. Some fcking ass holes around....
