Derbyshire house, June 2024

I don't have any history for this old , little house. Found it today whilst driving to other locations Staffordshire way.
Although not alot left inside you could tell that this property was very old. I loved the wallpaper, and the fire places. Old local news papers dated back to 1986.
Heading down into the cellar which was in complete darkness were some floor standing brick shelving for food storage, and some interesting dated, medicine and wine bottles
A maltesers packet lay on the shelf with a price of 14p if only!!

The same size pack of Maltesers in Tesco is 95p. I think the house could have been built in the 1950s, looking at the skirting boards. A pity the fire surrounds have been stolen.

I've just looked and managed to find the date the house was built 1858

1950s? Hmmm.. Why do you think that? Looks much older to me though I really am NOT an archi-spert! My first house was a two up two down and was built in 1880-some. It wasn't a million miles different. There's lath and plaster ceilings there in some pix with horse hair to bind the plaster - very much a Victorian/Edwardian technique though I haven't a scoobies when they stopped using it. It wasn't in use in the early 1960s though I don't think, plasterboard being much more the thing by then?

You know... if I bothered to use my eyes a tad more often I would have seen that our esteemed StealthyOne Camobie has pinned the date as mid 1800s. Serves me glad for pontificating!
