You're not going to see any beautiful, period features with this one, I'm afraid!
Completely trashed, with fire damage to 1 building. The buildings had the same layout. A couple of bedrooms, kitchen, and shower/toilet to each floor.
I'm not going to lie I was absolutely shatting myself, as I went alone!
Fortunately I didn't bump into another soul. I did read that the arson attack back in 2018 lead to the building's being searched for homeless people who had been living in there, but nobody was found at the time of the fire.
The buildings were built in 1971 and 1972 in 2 phases and have housed thousands of students attending Leicester university over the years
The buildings are named after the second wife of Percy Gee who was a founding member of Leicester university. He donated the land for the buildings, on the promise that buildings would be named after Mary, his wife.
The accommodation blocks have lay empty from 2018. The money from the sale going towards higher education at the university and new accommodation.
They now stand, smashed and trashed , with evident antisocial behaviour. There is a new plan put forward for demolition and a retirement village built on the grounds.
We'll wait and see.....
