Nash Mills was first opened in the early 1800s as a water powered papermill located adjacent to the Grand Union Canal. By the early 1900s, it was bought by the John Dickinson Stationary Company and expanded. A second phase of expansion took place in 1960. The large machine room, housing 2 continuously operating paper machines was constructed at this time. More recently, the mill was purchased by the South African Paper and Pulp Company (SAPPI). It closed in 2006 with production being moved to Egypt.
