St Catherines Fort,Tenby 01-04-08 report

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the defences built in the 1860's to protect the Welsh Pembrokshire coast from the threat of French invasion. It is built on a rocky outcrop to the east of the small town of Tenby. It has gun embrasures down both the northern and southern sides, with large, circular, corner emplacements at each of the seaward, eastern corners for guns on the roof.
It saw no action, and was eventually decommissioned and sold off. It has since been used, unsuccessfully for a number of purposes, the strangest being a zoo, and is now unused but still in private hands.

visited with a mate (probaly the best place i have visited yet)

(got loads more if anyone would like to see them!!)

Hope you guys like the pics!!

Ooh, would def like to see some more. It's such a great place; I never tire of seeing pics from it and some of yours are views that I've not seen before. I love that one of the 'peephole' with the ivy growing around it and the concrete area with grass. Excellent stuff! :)

Definitely agree with Foxy, lots of pics there that i haven't seen either. Excellent shots, love the ivy covered window (yep, same view as Foxy lol), and like the pic from underneath the bridge, that really does look dodgy lol.

Would love to see more pics from here please, its a lovely spot, and very picturesque.

Cheers,

:) Sal
