Lentney is a 1905 battery with 2 6" BL guns installed, put into reserve in 1910as Watch House Battery was more useful. Rearmed in 1941.

an easy to visit site and many interesting features remain, the shell lifts are in good condition and the magazines although largely are empty are free of rubbish and vandalism.....

The scale of the gun aprons always impress me - the layout and design is very similar to the sites of nearby Renney and Maker coastal batteries...

Sorry to bump this, but is Renny Lentney camp still between the batteries? I used to have to go there in the early 80s. In those days the camp comprised of nissen huts and both the Renny & Lentney gun batteries were in far better condition, the constant visiting of people at the camp kept the weeds down!
