I have been keeping my eye on this place for a while but until now the builders have been all over it.

Most of the low buildings have been cleared away leaving just the main mill due to be converted in to flats in the next two months. I expected an empty shell but as usual for those who look, there are a few nice things.

Find of the explore had to be through a narrow passage in the side of the building which lead to an enormous high chamber with huge fly wheels for transmitting power to the upper mill floors and the straight down five floors lift shaft of doom.

Anyway, no idea what the company was as it's all gone but here are some photos.

Had it's day by the look of it, still nice work getting inside. Did you get up the tower?

Yep, had its day indeed, the tower is just an easy walk up solid stone stairs, many of the photos were taken in it :)

Very nice place though...I love old mills, simple as that LOL

The 'chamber' is the Rope Race and the wheels are the idlers that guided the endless drive ropes up onto the lineshafts for each floor. Your excellent pictures show that the narrow passage, was in the tiled end wall of the now demolished engine house. It is where the drive ropes initially ran from the engine flywheel, before being guided upwards by the aforementioned idler pulleys.

There were 29 mills in Bramley and I have the National Grid refs for them all. Contact me with grid ref or Street name if you wish for mill name etc.

Really interested to see this, as I've regularly drove past. The lift door photograph is really good. I'm glad it's not all coming down. Nice work :)

Looks good-even though it's stripped it's still got bags of character! ;) You got some good pics of it too!

I used to live just down the road from that but never went inside (before I got into UE).

Great to see some quality pictures. I may have return to that part of the world one day.

Thanks for all the kind comments, it's a great place and although empty and some would say shagged, I love it :)
