Me and Sausage found this up on the moors today. I think it is a Type 24 but aint sure. Sausage has the internal shots I think.

Its one of several on the moor right next to the site of the Chain Home radar station and several light AA gun emplacements.

Heres the pillbox:

And the fine view from it:

cripes....thats a bit bleak up across there and no mistake........Wouldn't have wanted to be in the local Home Guard unit that had to sit up there every bloody night.....rain lashing down.....wind howling in ...... paratroopers called Heinz sneaking about dressed as nuns .......werewolves...oh...hang on a minute ...getting carried away a bit now.............:)

Aye its a bit like Siberia up here in the winter but I love it!

Excellent pillbox...tis indeed a T24 (my favourite as they are such a quirky shape).
It does look a bit Wuthering Heights up there though. Brrrrr!!!

Tis indeed high up in Northumberland that place. :)
The few internal shots I have are, I think, poor and taken with a flash but here they are. You will notice how graffitti-free it is but if you do visit watch out for the dead animals inside (smelt bad) and the stray snakes outside. We actually think it has been re-skimmed inside due to it's lack of vandalism. On with my pics...

One thing which struck me was the entry door from the small corridoor outside. It was very small. Was that normal or is it due to the raw Northumbrian winters they had?
