Although I had visited Hellingly recently, it's almost classed as my 'local' asylum and with Klempner and Drypulse after a guide I was more than happy to oblige.
We all met down the road from the hospital mid morning, along with a couple of my friends. The weather was great, bitterly cold but really bright.
As we made our way in, one of the first parts we came to was the hall. From there (past the hairdressers), i chose a slightly odd route around the hospital which found us darting from one end to the other, then back round again!
After going through the kitchen, out towards the burnt remains of stores and my first ever clear view of it, we headed towards the tower
Klempner then exclaimed that he had a spare 10-20mm lens in his bag, and offered to loan it to me
From here we headed upstairs and followed some of the wards round, before heading downstairs, towards the laundry and finally hitting engineering.
We headed out of the main building, and down towards the old isolation hospital where the others made an incredible discovery and called me over - in a previously sealed side room was a gaping hole that led down a long way - i shone my torch in and to my surprise saw a set of coal fired boilers - rusting away underground. The drop was a bit too far to climb safely, so one for another day
And finally, we saw the remains of the padded cell before heading out.
All in all, a great day - good to meet some new faces and some nice new finds among the desolation and decay.
