Fairmile asylum - Nov 2008

myself and a mate went to fairmile asylum on sunday morning, this place is amazing, I'v uploaded 103 pictures to my FlickR page if you want to see more go to

Did you go into the Asylum?

nice one!i've always wanted to revisit this place!

Not been in the main building complex yet, we spent hours looking around the outside part first, there are other buildings on the site to the east which look like more wards and accomadation.

Some of the outer buildings have been boarded up since my mate when there a few months back, one thing that did strike me was the lack of rubbish in the buildings.

If one can't get to the good bits (i.e. cells and wards) I'm definitely scrapping my plans to go here next year!
But what I see looks good fun to explore though!

So, is it worth a trip from Oxford?

I was coincidentally enough, checking this out on Google earth and wondering what it looked like from ground level only last night.

Thanks a lot for the pictures as they show it's not in as bad a state as I thought it might be.

whats with all the boards, when we went there were none, how come u did not get into the main building??
