Visited with ConcentrationF, took a trip over to this site to see the sights, and what a place it is. Vehicles parked everywhere, many pressed up against eachother.
We spent a good couple of hours taking photos before a nice gentleman approached us to tell us more about the site, well his exact words involved a metal bar, heads and the outside possibility of hospital food.
To be fair he was a nice guy in the end and he was worried we were chav hoodmonkeys there to lever off the car badges.

I'm no petrol head but some of the cars and trucks were incredible, and all just left to die

Hello there, great report, glad to see you did not end up in traction after getting busted :mrgreen:

If you are interested, this is an AEC Merryweather turntable fire engine, still quite a few about, but good to see this anyway:

In this photo, the truck on the left is an extremely rare Foden FG Aircraft Refueller, only ever seen one of these things restored. The truck on the right is also a Foden, but the later S21 fibreglass cab, and it looks like it might have ended it's days as a recovery truck, but I doubt it started out in life like that:

Not sure if the guy would be up for authorised visits to be honest although he mentioned that someone had stuck a note to his door asking if they could come and take photos. He looked like he just couldn't be bothered with the hassle and seemed as if he had had a few scummers come in nicking stuff recently as well.

Holy ****, there are some very historic vehicles in there. They should not be left to rot like this. I'm part of the classic commercial vehicle preservation scene, I have a 1964 Scammell truck.

I found out some history about the turntable ladder fire engine. It was new to London Fire Brigade, id number TL16, registration plate number 22ML, it is a 1960 Merryweather (A.E.C. Mercury GM4R5912) Turntable Ladder new to Middlesex C.C. and taken into the LFB fleet in 1965. Spent all its life at Hayes Fire Station.

Great find, keep it secret though if the chavs get in its all over. :mrgreen:
