What was originally part of the production site for the nearby railway station so im told, more recently used as a kitchen unit and plastic door production site. Has been empty for about 5 years during which a fire has gutted the main building leaving the roof hanging by a thread.
Have been eyeing this one up for a while but had to move fast as demo has started and theres not much left. Still a fair bit to look at tho, many things still in rooms.
Sorry if the shots look a bit rushed, it was my first trip alone and got a bit spooked by the creaking roof..

Interesting, there's a near identical one at the Boots PQD Laboratory in Nottingham....

In fact looking at what surrounds it in your photo, I get the impression it is indeed what I think it is.

Just what i was thinking, Thompski, the same yellow curtains too, the sucky thing is to extract fumes/smoke from a welding area, and the curtains to reduce the flash from welding, i remember the same kind of thing from a spell at college, where i set some welding gloves on fire by putting them on something i'd just welded, then going for lunch break! DOH! filled the place with smoke

I guess another one bits the dust then, good job it was found when it was or it could have been another one could have been lost without being recorded, and quite an important one considering Nottingham being an important centre for pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Thanks for the info on the sucky hosey thing, i did wonder what it was for. I liked its bendyness mostly...:)
As for what the place did, im not sure. May well have been something of the welding ilk regarding whats been said bout the hosey thing.
Its on a street where most things are being torn down but i just happened to notice it whilst passing on the train last week. Really was just in time, recon it'll be gone in the next week, such a shame. :(

Just had a better inspect of things and i think that is the same place i just didnt know it..rats im dim. Couldnt see the front of the building what with all the scaffolding.
Must be that bit of Boots, its identical. Cheers for pointing that out !

Oh well mistakes happen - I've got places mixed up in the past, though I had no excuse if I must be honest.

Hopefully something else will emerge in Nottingham in the near future - for being a big city it doesn't have much to see from our standpoint, well not compared to the wider East Midlands anyway.

Are these pics of two different sites? Some pics are certainly of Boots PQD, but others look like somewhere else

The building across the street if memory serves me correctly was pretty fooked (nice gaping hole in the roof) when I roofed the lab - might be that one?

Could be anything - most of the stuff nearby was derelict, and the proposed redevelopment has a bigger footprint then the lab if I recall.

Sounds right, most of the streets being demo'd at the min. Theyve nearly finished by the looks of it too.
That kitchen place was over the road of what i now know was Boots PQD (Cheers MD) and yes theres a bloody great hole in the roof.
In the wind yesterday it was making some pretty funky creaking noises too...i was alone and it gave me the willies !
Im so cross ive missed Boots i cant put it into words...grrr...

Yep, the hosey bit and the phallic chinmey are at PQD but the other stuff in a place opposite it, didnt know what i was looking at at the time and didnt know if they were related..(now i know it was a kitchen shop ??)

Well I guess the people of Nottingham like their kitchens

Never mind - plenty of stuff to look at around these parts :)

Ah ok that makes sense now, there did seem to be a lot of derelict looking stuff on that road

Really cracking photos, Laura. Especially love the first and the one of the hole in the roof.
Well done for getting in there in time. Good stuff! :)

Nice report littlelaura, some good photo's there. Thanks for sharing :)

Hey Foxy....... i've got to ask........ "A sucky hosey thingy" is that by any chance one of your Foxyisms?:lol:

woah that looks like a great place. i wish i had that bmx trophy, i love my bmxing :) love the sagging shelves shots too. great report and keep up the good work :) why are they knocking it down? is something boring like flats going to be built there? had a huge industrial site very near me that had huge units that did the same sort of thing. gutted tho because theyve ripped it all down now to build an animal incinerator and a number of other things (so its gunna stink out my village if the winds going the right way lol). i didnt get to hav a proper explore either :( only went there once with some friends to have a paintballing session. such a shame that people let little industrial gems like this get into such disrepair.

I've heard its being cleared for a new load of posh flats all the way down the road.
I went past on the train yesterday and its all gone now...
Sadly most of Boots PQD across the road has also gone.
