i took a drive to see if i could drive into west park again with the kids in tow but changed my mind due to hammer-man at the front gate and me becoming paranoid.

note to self : dont be paranoid, be bold.

anyways parked up in manor park and walked to see hollywood lodge from the road and take my daughter to see the horzses, then we have a drive around the converted hospitals.

i need help as to what is what though, i think i have them right but if im wrong please advise as id appreciate it.

also noticed on the horton estate that there is a live hospital called 'horton haven', is this for the insane [dont like to put it that way but judging by the fences within fences etc i kind of think this way]

only took a few pics. [youll be pleased to know]

please correct me if im wrong....

now i get confused...where is this? is it horton still?

and im confused where this is too

i also noticed a fabulous looking building, possibly a water tower but lower than the norm and more wider at the base, almost like a 2 storey house, but i couldnt find my way to it and lost sight of it, the same as what seemed to be another chapel on the same housing estate.

Glad you are finding your way around..Lilli can fill you in probably with some of the details..did you get to see St Ebbas remnants?

i did a quick drive round thedre a few weeks back, photos are on here under the cane hill, west park, st ebbas thread.

i did pull into st ebbas only to ask security as i never came accross any other bugger or a safe place to stop, to ask where the nearest petrol station was as was running on fumes.

im intrigued what that 2 storey tower thing was, wish i grabbed a pic from when i saw it and not gone searching as i got lost.

Heres a bit of identification of some of your pics,

The manor administration (originally horton manor house)

The Manor, brick ward pavilions (the hospital was mostly corrugated metal wards)

I'd imagine it was this:

This was the Central Pumping station and power generating plant. It also incorporated patient accomodation and was later called Sherwood and operated as an annexe of The Manor hospital. It had been intended to supply the entire estate originally.

Not sure on the other chapel? Long Grove, West Park and The Manor have all had their Chapels demolished and St. Ebba's wasn't constructed with a separate chapel so there should only be Horton's chapel left.

Horton haven is still in use for mental health purposes and includes a couple of gate lodges, the old stewards residences and some newer staff houses. Apart from the chapel, there are two villas, the nurses home and an isoltaion within horton haven, but from what i last saw they are all disused.

Hope this helps
Pete

I worked for TRY Homes on Horton and there was a guy in the haven "rocking chair man" or something like that who was quite the local celebrity - absolutely stark raving bonkers!! You could often hear very disturbing wails and screams coming from the building, the kid you'd expect from a horror movie, NO ******** i mean scarry!!!

The chapel is Horton from what i can remember. Keep meaning to have a drive up there and check it all out, it's on the "things to do when i can drive again" list

Nice work & pics Anthillmob74.

That Hollylodge place looks like it could be a perfect set in a horror film, as could a lot of places on this website! Some nice photo's there, btw.

the haven was deffo in use when i drove past, people sat inside hire razor wired fencing within fencing within fencing and a nurse wandering about with them.

if i ever win the lottery i want the house next to the watertower.

and pete, that was the thing i saw and couldnt find.

you guys are ace
