Visited with myself and Gaz

After a half hour walk and some directions from our friendly security guy from the boys village we came across the old lime kilns.. not much to see but a nice bit of history... be warned keep to the path as it borders the aberthaw power station ash pits.

Hope you enjoyed

Nice pictures. It's always good to see these kilns. I still find it hard to believe that they used pebbles from the beach. They were opened in December 1888 and the two kilns had a capacity of 300 tons each with an output of 40 tons of burnt lime per day.

It's always good to see a lime kiln. I have never seen one with a house? stuck between them. They look quite big too. Thanks for posting. :)

Aberthaw Lime.

Last time I visited there were "Beware of Snakes" signs everywhere, adders paradise apparently.

Where the FUNK is this and how come I've never seen it? lol

I'm guessing it's to the north of the Cement Works?
