For many years I've been fascinated with the old 'Milwaukee Road' RailRoad whose 'main line' once ran from Chicago to Seattle across bits of North and South Dakota across the entire state of Montana to finish up in Washington State...
..Along the way I've been vaguely formulating plans for a sort of 'grand vacation'
(gawd knows when mind you ....) to not only to have a mooch at whats left of the disused railway and the very numerous ghosttowns, abandoned ranchs and homesteads.... but also to see the staggering country of the American Great Plains and Pacific North West............. Well.........
.........In my digging on the 'Net' for information etc I found this website that is absolutely amzing .... check it out .
If you have a hankering for disused and abandoned stuff. .
...mines and mining towns, railroads, logging camps, fire watch towers, light houses bridges tunnels.. abandoned steam engines in the middle of woods... (yes ! I'm not joking about that.and no...its not a SSR!)......you name it ...if its abandoned in that area of the United States then this bloke has quite probably been there and took at least a couple of dozen photos of it.......
...I've spent over 4 hours on this site today and have not looked at even a quarter of it........... there are literally hundreds of great photos to go through and section after section dedicated to whatever your particular mooching interest may be..........:)

WOW!! That story of the Ring of Fire movie is incredible!!

It's great when you get more than just pictures of somewhere interesting. A story behind it. Makes me want to go on a road trip and visit some of those places myself!!

Thanks for the link

That is a really good website! I like the abandoned locomotive in the woods. The person that has created it has obviously spent a huge amount f time exploring, great find.

It's a fabulous website, smiffy. Those are exactly the sort of things and places I'd love to go and look at for myself. Excellent stuff. Cheers for the heads up. :)
