Hi All
Day 9
Right time to get down dirty and dangerous, this is a tiny part of the La Marne fortification area, there are 3 forts or works called "Jury", "Mercy" and
d`Ars-Laquenexy this is the south section of the Laquenexy complex, in this part it had 2 combat blocks for 100mm artillery but the star is the power
generator plant, which supply`d electrical power for all 3 forts and all there combat blocks.
Looks to have been built around 1911 and during WW2 it was attacked and suffered heavy damage.
Picture time........
Looking at one of the combat blocks/casemate
A quick look at the bottom of one of the lifts up to the top combat block - death trap..
Looking at the magazines under one of the combat blocks, still with there original wooded doors, the massive pipe running down the middle of the floor is
for air ventilation, then on the right of the picture is a slide for the return of empty shell cases.
Right enough of making you lot wait for the star of the complex.
The power generator room has 10 - yes 10 single cylinder engines along with there associated electrical switch gear, rooms near by house the 2 massive
fuel tanks..
The switch gear panel, there is only a tiny part of the front left but it`s made of 20mm thick Marble (no expense spared)
One of the huge fuel tanks in the complex.
Right that will do for now, thanks for looking and as per all comments are most welcome.
As you might think there is a s*** load more pictures on my FlickR page so head on over to -
Ars-Laquenexy bunker
