Walked past this little gem many times. This time, I had a camera (albeit on me phone, so sorry if a bit poor quality)

Couldn't find any history

The 'skylight' is an occulus (meaning eye).

Yes, 'tis a shame about the skylight. Not sure if the green netting is there as it's due to be repaired, or whether it's just to catch any loose pieces of glass!

Yeah, it's sad fact that such buildings are over-looked and sometimes allowed to fall beyond economic repair
